Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has come out with split-MAC architecture that increase WiFi performance. This is useful in WLAN environment where AP (Access Point) is controlled by a wireless switch.

What is Split MAC
This intelligent RF management provides a facility to get the details of the signal strength in any given AP (Access Point -- wireless unit). This change of signal strength is sent to the wireless controller (or known as wireless switch). The controller can quickly change channel or do necessary optimization to get maximum signal strength or performance for AP.
