Boradband Vs. Leasedline

Hello,

Most of the time we get to ask the question on the difference between Broadband Vs. Leasedline. Here is a some quick comparison.

1.
LEASED LINE: Dedicated to the user

BROADBAND: Contention ratio typically is 1:50 (that is 50 users share 8 Mbps pipe)

2.
LEASED LINE: Sharing is possible. That Peak time sharing will reduce the performance
is 2 or 4 per circuit - for reducing the cost. Still predictable performance

BROADBAND: Peak time sharing will reduce the performance

3.
LEASED LINE: A guaranteed allocation of No guarantee of allocation of bandwidth.
bandwidth, available at all times.

BROADBAND: No guarantee of allocation of bandwidth. The "A" in ADSL stands for asynchronous, which basically means "faster down than up". Upload speed is typically 1/4th of download speed in higher speed connections.

4.
LEASED LINE: SLA -- Service Level Agreement No guarantee of up time of 98.6% or more

BROADBAND: No guarantee of up time
